Aizawl: Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma has urged the Union government to prioritize the construction of durable, rigid pavement roads across the state.
This push for long-lasting infrastructure was a key point of discussion during his recent meeting with Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi.
During their discussion, CM Lalduhoma specifically proposed replacing existing bituminous pavements with concrete or rigid pavements. He emphasized that this change would significantly improve the durability of highways, especially during the challenging monsoon season.
In response, Minister Gadkari assured Lalduhoma that he would send officials to Mizoram to study the feasibility of implementing rigid pavement roads in the state.
The two leaders also reviewed several other critical infrastructure projects in Mizoram. The Union Minister also reviewed the progress of the ongoing National Highway projects in the state.
These included the widening of NH-6/306 (Vairengte to Sairang) to four lanes, the construction of NH-306A (Vairengte to New Vervek village), and the essential repair of NH-502 (Lawngtlai to Siaha towns).
