Aizawl: Security forces in Mizoram have seized methamphetamine tablets valued at over Rs. 165 crore in a series of coordinated operations targeting cross-border drug trafficking, officials confirmed on Friday.
Five individuals were arrested in connection with the seizures.
In the largest haul, a joint team of the Border Security Force (BSF) and the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) recovered 9.6 lakh methamphetamine (Yaba) tablets worth approximately Rs. 144 crore during an operation in Serchhip district.
Acting on a tip-off, the team intercepted a pickup truck near Serchhip town on Thursday and detained three residents of Aizawl.
In a separate crackdown, the Assam Rifles, in collaboration with the Special Narcotics Police Station, seized 7 kg of meth tablets valued at Rs. 21 crore during an operation on the outskirts of Aizawl on Friday.

Based on specific intelligence, the team launched the raid in Zemabawk South area and stopped a vehicle early Friday, leading to the arrest of two individuals.
These operations follow an earlier joint action on August 21, when the BSF, NCB, and Mizoram’s Excise and Narcotics department confiscated 5 lakh meth tablets and 36 grams of heroin worth Rs. 75 crore on the Aizawl-Champhai highway.
Eight suspects were detained and four vehicles seized during that drive.
Officials said the seizures highlight the persistent threat of narcotics trafficking in the region and reaffirmed their commitment to intensifying anti-smuggling operations along the Indo-Myanmar border.
