GUWAHATI: In a move towards enhancing healthcare accessibility for military veterans and their dependents, a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) was signed on Monday between the Indian Army and Mizoram State Cancer Institute (MSCI) in Aizawl.
MSCI, renowned as one of the premier cancer hospitals in Aizawl, will play a pivotal role in extending specialised medical services to beneficiaries of the Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) in Mizoram.
The MoA, signed by the Regional Director of ECHS in Guwahati on behalf of Headquarters Eastern Command, HQ 101 Area, and Central Organisation ECHS, and the Director of MSCI, aims to streamline and expedite the medical treatment process.
One of the primary benefits of this collaboration is the provision of cashless and capless medical treatment to ECHS beneficiaries and their dependents across the entire state of Mizoram.
This encompasses ECHS beneficiaries of Assam Rifles at rates aligned with the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS).
The agreement is anticipated to alleviate the challenges faced by beneficiaries and their dependents who previously had to travel to other Northeastern states, especially Assam, to avail cancer treatment.
The focus is on ensuring that beneficiaries receive quality medical care without the additional burden of financial constraints.
Recognising the need for seamless healthcare access, a help centre has been established at MSCI by the local Military Authority.
This initiative aims to assist ex-servicemen (ESM) in navigating the medical treatment process with ease.
Earlier on January 14, Chief Minister Lalduhoma attended the 8th Armed Forces Veteran Day celebration in Mizoram.
Expressing his gratitude on a social media platform, the Chief Minister shared, “I served as the chief guest at the 8th Armed Forces Veteran Day celebration and the Mizoram Ex-Servicemen Reunion organized by Sainik Welfare & Resettlement, Mizoram.”
