Aizawl: Installation of a gas pipeline connecting Mizoram with neighbouring Tripura is in progress, officials said on Wednesday.
Once completed, the project will enable household gas connections across Mizoram, particularly benefiting residents of Aizawl.
Mizoram Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister B Lalchhanzova recently chaired a review meeting to assess the progress of the ongoing project, which is being implemented under the North East Gas Grid (NEGG) initiative.
Officials said the gas pipeline is being laid from Panisagar in Tripura to Sihhmui near Aizawl, covering a total distance of 119 km — with 104 km falling within Mizoram and the remaining stretch in Tripura.
During the review meeting, it was noted that about 23.5 per cent (28 km) of the work has been completed so far.
