KOHIMA: H. Mankimi, a dedicated nurse from Mizoram, has been recognized for her exceptional contributions to the nursing profession with the prestigious National Florence Nightingale Award 2024.
The award was presented by President Droupadi Murmu at a ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Wednesday.

Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma expressed his pride and congratulated Mankimi for this significant achievement.
The National Florence Nightingale Awards, instituted by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in the year 1973, honour nursing professionals who have demonstrated extraordinary service to their communities.
The awards aim to recognize the invaluable contributions of nurses and encourage them to continue striving for excellence.
The 2024 ceremony honoured nursing professionals in three categories: Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM), Lady Health Visitor (LHV), and Nurse.
Mankimi was among the 15 awardees of the National Florence Nightingale Award 2024.
In addition to H. Mankimi, Brahmacharimayum Amusana Devi (LHV) from Manipur, Januka Pandey (ANM) from Sikkim, and Iken Lollen (ANM) from Arunachal Pradesh were the recipients of the prestigious award.

The event was attended by Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare Jagat Prakash Nadda, Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Anupriya Patel, and other dignitaries.
Each award consists of a certificate of merit, a cash prize of Rs1,00,000, and a medal, recognizing the recipients’ contributions in hospital or community settings, educational or administrative roles.
