AIZAWL: Tightening the noose on corruption in the state, Mizoram Chief Minister Laladuhoma said that his government will make sure that tax money is used responsibly and transparently.
Addressing the opening ceremony of the party office in Aizawl on Monday, the Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) chief said that the government will appoint dedicated individuals to scrutinise and rectify discrepancies in financial matters of the state.
Proudly announcing the completion of a substantial portion of his “100-day promises”, Lalduhoma highlighted the importance of accountability in governance.
“If there is any money coming in as tax and it is used in the wrong place, it is corruption,” the Chief Minister was quoted as saying by a regional news portal.
Recently, the government officially sanctioned the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to investigate state offenses.
The decision was formalised through a gazette notification released on December 28, invoking the Delhi Special Police Establishment Act of 1948.
During his address, Lalduhoma also highlighted the crucial role of development in shaping the future for Mizoram’s youth.
“Everyone is important and fits into this new era of development, and we will all work together,” he told the portal, stressing on unity and collaboration.
The Chief Minister issued a compelling call to entrepreneurs, urging them to seek reliable partnerships and make a global impact.
Emphasising the need for Mizoram to be heard on the global stage, Lalduhoma encouraged the business community to explore opportunities aligned with the state’s vision for progress.
Earlier in the day, Deputy Chief Minister of Nagaland Pu Y Patton visited Lalduhoma at his residence.
The meeting focused on exploring collaborations to address regional needs in the Northeast.
“Today, the Deputy Chief Minister of Nagaland, Pu Y. Patton, visited my residence to convey congratulations. We discussed crucial initiatives for the development of NE India and explored potential collaboration based on regional needs. I greatly appreciate the visit and the gifts,” he wrote on a social media post.
