Aizawl: Assam Rifles recovered a cache of arms, ammunition, and war-like stores during a targeted operation in Champhai district of Mizoram on August 20, officials said.
Acting on specific intelligence, multiple Quick Reaction Teams (QRTs) launched a coordinated operation in the general area of Saikhumpai near the Tiau River in the early hours of Tuesday.
The teams moved tactically from Vaphai to Saikhumpai and carried out systematic searches while maintaining stealth and surprise, an official statement said.

The search led to the recovery of one Heckler & Koch G3 assault rifle, one magazine, nine 40mm grenades, a thermobaric RPG grenade, a hand grenade, an under-barrel grenade launcher, and 36 rounds of .22 ammunition.
The seized items have been handed over to the Dungtlang police for further investigation.
Security forces have intensified operations along the Indo-Myanmar border to curb illegal arms smuggling and cross-border insurgent activities, officials added.
