As thousands of NEET aspirants await their fate, over the past 24 hours, demands for a re-examination at the West Jaintia Hills’ Jowai and Ri Bhoi’s Nongpoh centres have intensified following reports of irregularities emerging from them.

Despite Chief Minister Conrad Sangma’s escalation of the matter to the National Testing Agency (NTA), the central body responsible for conducting NEET exams, indications of a re-conduct seem bleak.
The NTA is yet to respond to the Chief Minister’s plea and is allegedly playing hide and seek with the aspirants’ hopes, leaving stakeholders in a state of limbo.
The issue came to the fore after two prominent student bodies, the Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) and the Jaintia Students’ Union (JSU), jointly penned a letter to State Education Minister Rakkam A Sangma, highlighting the plight of candidates.

The letter underscored the confusion faced by students who received two sets of question papers and the inability of invigilators to provide clarity amidst the chaos.
Although the NTA previously dismissed claims of a question paper leak, stating that the examination was successfully conducted across 557 cities in India and 14 abroad, recent developments have cast doubts on the integrity of the process.
