Tura: Is it a volcano? Or, a potential oil field?
People in and around Kentrikona in South West Garo hills district of Meghalaya are caught in total fear and anxiety.
Villagers told Northeast News from Kentrikona that workers of the Public Health Engineering (PHE) department were drilling in an area for water.
Suddenly, at around 3.30 pm on Sunday, the PHE workers at Kentrikona started to run helter skelter when hot water-like bubbles started to flow out of the drilling site.
Some of the villagers also said they are scared because the bubbles were followed by a spell of fire oozing out of the drilling bore.
Several videos on the incident are also circulating on different social media platforms.
“We don’t know what this is. Lets us hope nothing bad is going to happen to us,” one of the villagers said, adding that they have decided to stay careful.
Meanwhile, there has been no official statement from the Meghalaya government in relation to the incident.
