Shillong: A local court in Shillong has granted bail to Lokendra Singh Tomar and Balbir Ahirwar, two co-accused in the high-profile murder case of Indore businessman Raja Raghuvanshi, whose body was discovered in Meghalaya’s Sohra region in early June.
Tomar, the owner of a flat in Indore, and Balbir, the security guard at the same property, were accused of aiding Sonam, the victim’s wife, and her alleged accomplice Raj Kushwaha by providing shelter after the murder.
The duo faced charges of obstruction of justice and evidence tampering, which fall under bailable offences, according to their legal counsel.
The Judicial Magistrate First Class granted them bail on Friday, noting that both had fully cooperated with investigators during the probe.
Raja Raghuvanshi, who had married Sonam on May 11, went missing on May 23 while honeymooning in Meghalaya.
His mutilated body was recovered from a deep gorge in Sohra, East Khasi Hills, on June 2.
According to police, Sonam and her alleged boyfriend Raj Kushwaha conspired to murder Raja and hired three contract killers—Akash Rajput, Vishal Singh Chauhan, and Anand Kurmi—to carry out the crime.
