Tura: The Mothers’ Union in Tura has expressed deep sorrow and condemnation over the tragic death of Raja Raghuwanshi, a tourist from Indore, Madhya Pradesh, who was allegedly murdered while visiting Sohra in Meghalaya’s East Khasi Hills district.
The Union also urged authorities to intensify efforts to locate Sonam Raghuwanshi, the deceased’s wife, who remains missing.
In an official statement released on Thursday, the organisation conveyed its condolences to the bereaved family and called the incident “horrific and unfortunate.”
The couple was reportedly on their honeymoon when they went missing on May 23. Raja’s body was later found in a gorge, while search operations for Sonam are ongoing.
“Our heartfelt condolences go out to the grieving family. We strongly condemn this act and call on the authorities to ensure that the perpetrators are swiftly brought to justice,” the statement said.
