TURA: Meghalaya’s Johnwell Gabil Momin has become the state’s first certified professional golf coach.
The Tura-based golfer has earned his “D” Certificate from the National Golf Academy of India (NGAI).
Momin expressed his gratitude to the Tura Golf Association and Shillong Club for their support throughout his journey.
Momin’s path to certification was arduous. He successfully passed the written exam in May and subsequently cleared the Playing Ability Test at the Classic Golf & Country Club, Manesar, Haryana, in August.
Recently, the golfer completed his apprenticeship under the guidance of renowned Indian coach Indrajit Bhalotia in Kolkata, who played a crucial role in his certification.
He expressed that this accomplishment is not solely his but a source of pride for the entire state of Meghalaya.
With his new certification, Momin is now planning to establish his own golf academy and expand coaching services throughout the Northeast region. He has already scheduled coaching camps in Assam and Garo Hills.
Momin’s achievement is a testament to his hard work, dedication, and the support of his family and community.
He aims to inspire and nurture a new generation of talented golfers from Meghalaya and Northeast.
Momin plans to launch his golf academy and provide coaching services across the Northeast region.

He has already scheduled a coaching camp for next month at the Assam Railway Golf Course, and he plans to conduct another camp in Garo Hills at the Durama Golf Course in Tura.
He aims to play a pivotal role in fostering the growth of golf in the region.
