Shillong: Shillong will host selection trials for the coveted AIFF-FIFA Academy later this month, offering young footballers from Meghalaya a chance to break into the country’s premier youth development programme.
The trials will take place at the MFA Turf, Third Ground, Polo, and will be open to both boys and girls from designated age groups.
Organisers said girls born in 2011 and 2012 are eligible to appear for the trials, while boys born in 2012 and 2013 can take part.
The selection process will be spread over three days, with boys born in 2012 being assessed on February 18, followed by boys born in 2013 on February 19.
Trials for girls in the 2011 and 2012 age categories will be conducted on February 20.

The AIFF-FIFA Academy forms a key pillar of India’s long-term football development roadmap, focusing on identifying and grooming promising talent through professional coaching, structured training modules and regular exposure to high-level competition.
Officials said players and coaches have been urged to complete the online registration https://forms.gle/C5oLSAV8unP5i1LG9 process at the earliest to facilitate better planning and coordination of the trials.
Early registration, they added, would help organisers streamline logistics and ensure the smooth conduct of the selection process.
