Tura: A seminar was organized by the Tura Chambugong Mahari Association on Saturday at the Pastoral Centre in Walbakgre.
The seminar was aimed to promote the preservation of Garo customs and traditions.
The seminar began with an introduction by Bensing Ch. Marak, President of Tura Chambugong Mahari Association (TCMA), and an opening prayer by Pastor Johnstellon Ch. Marak.
Well known speakers at the seminar included Wienson Ch. Marak, former Executive Member of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC), Tejipson Ch. Marak, Secretary of Arts & Culture of AGCCA and Wilsan Ch. Marak from Lasker Dengnakpara Village Court.
The speakers addressed the seminar’s central theme of creating awareness among the younger generation about the significance of Garo traditional culture.
The seminar highlighted the pressing need to preserve these customs in a globalized world to safeguard the unique identity of the Garo tribe.
The event underscored a collective commitment to uphold and celebrate the rich cultural heritage of the Garo people, ensuring its continuity amidst contemporary challenges.
