Shillong: The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) volunteers on Sunday took out a rally at Shillong,
Braving the inclement weather, nearly 400 RSS volunteers from East Khasi Hills and Jaintia Hills of Meghalaya took part in the rally.
The RSS rally began at around 8:30 am from Khyndailad and culminated at 11:00 am at Gurkha Pathshala Ground at Garikhana.
The RSS rally – Path Sanchalan –was part of preparations by the RSS for the organisation’s centenary celebration to be held in 2025.
Prominent members of the RSS in Meghalaya participated in the rally.
The RSS rally in the city on Sunday passed off peacefully except an instance where the volunteers were not allowed to proceed towards Lower Mawprem.
Homnath Gautam, the RSS Shillong city secretary said some locals prevented the volunteers from going towards Lower Mawprem.
Pawnam Sisha Khongsni, RSS East Khasi Hills district secretary, addressed the gathering at Gurkha Pathshala Ground.
Khongsngi called upon the youth of Meghalaya to come forward to contribute to the development of the state and India.
