Last year, the NEHU administration appointed SM Sungoh from the Department of Education as Pro VC of the Shillong Campus, and Fameline K. Marak from the Department of Garo as Pro VC of the Tura Campus.
North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) Vice-Chancellor Prof. Prabha Shankar Shukla recently urged faculty members to work together to restore stability and prioritize academic progress.
In a letter to NEHU faculty members, VC Prof. Shukla acknowledged that the recent disruptions have impacted the institution, particularly causing delays in the Career Advancement Scheme (CAS) promotions.
“When I initiated work on CAS in 2024, my intention was to complete the promotions by March 2025, giving special priority to those at the highest stages of their careers, particularly those approaching retirement. Unfortunately, unforeseen challenges have stalled this process which is continuously going on. I regret the delay and want to assure you that finalizing CAS remains a top priority,” he said.
