SHILLONG: An Organic Spice Industrial Unit (Prime-Hub) is coming up at Bhoirymbong in Meghalaya’s Ri-Bhoi district.
Meghalaya CM Conrad K Sangma recently laid the foundation stone of the unit.
The Organic Spice Industrial Unit will be managed by Eastern Ri-Bhoi Organic Farmer Producer Company Ltd.
With a total investment of Rs 15 crores, including Rs 12 crores in government incentives and a bank loan of Rs 2-3 crores, the multi-purpose facility will process various spices like ginger, turmeric, and black pepper.
CM Sangma said this unit will help thousands of farmers and is expected to become the largest of its kind in the Northeastern region.
Emphasizing the company’s mission, Revistar Kharumnuid, CEO of Ri Bhoi Organic Farmer Producers Company Ltd., highlighted the importance of empowering local farmers and promoting Meghalaya’s rich organic traditions.
The new facility will increase production, improve product quality and quantity, and strengthen the company’s global market presence, Kharumnuid said.

The company has tied up with 10 other FPOs from different districts, targeting an annual input of 4700 metric tonnes and revenue of Rs 18.71 crore, Rs 24.94 crore, and Rs 27.68 crore over the next three years.
