Shillong: The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Shillong hosted the North East India Craft Bazaar at the State Central Library, bringing together artisans and craft traditions from across the region.
The two-day event concluded on Saturday with a vibrant display of handloom and handicraft products reflecting the rich cultural heritage of Northeast India.
Artisans showcased a wide range of handcrafted creations that highlighted traditional techniques, distinctive designs and the artistic identity of different communities in the region.
The exhibition aimed to celebrate indigenous craftsmanship while creating opportunities for artisans to connect with a wider audience.

One of the key attractions of the event was a fashion show titled “The Heritage Walk”, which presented the region’s traditional textiles and crafts through contemporary styling and modern interpretations on the runway.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Daiaphira Kharjana, Managing Director and CEO of the Meghalaya Khadi and Village Industries Board, said handicrafts are living traditions that link communities, skills and generations.
Organisers said the event provided a valuable platform for artisans to showcase and market their work while reinforcing NIFT Shillong’s efforts to support sustainable livelihoods and preserve traditional craft knowledge in the region.
