Tura: In a grand display of patriotism, a ‘Tiranga rally’ was held in Meghalaya’s Tura on Saturday as a tribute to the valour and sacrifice of India’s armed forces and security personnel.

The event, organised by Bernard N. Marak, Member of District Council from 9-Tura GHADC Constituency, witnessed participation from local citizens, students, and institutions across West Garo Hills.

The rally commenced at the District Auditorium, passing through key areas including Tura Market, Hawakhana, and Ringre, before returning to the starting point.

Hundreds of participants, waving the national flag, joined in a solemn tribute to the nation’s defenders.

In his address, Bernard Marak paid homage to the unwavering courage of the Indian Armed Forces, including the BSF, CRPF, and local police, who continue to protect the country against terrorism and threats.

“India has never bowed to terrorism, and this is because of the selfless service of our brave men and women in uniform,” he stated.

A special commemoration and interfaith prayer followed the rally, held in memory of those who laid down their lives in the line of duty.
