Ampati: The District Administration of South West Garo Hills, in collaboration with the Tourism Department and the Arts & Culture Department, is set to organise a vibrant two-day winter festival, ‘Mi Kari’, at Students’ Field in Ampati on February 13 and 14.
Envisioned as a celebration of the region’s rich cultural heritage and strong community spirit, Mi Kari will bring together tradition, creativity and festive cheer under a single platform. The festival will feature a wide range of activities, including indigenous games, traditional cooking competitions, photography and painting contests, a flower show, healthy baby show and talent show, offering engaging experiences for people of all age groups.
The evenings will be marked by lively music and entertainment, with performances by local artistes under the Meghalaya Grassroots Music Programme (MGMP). Music concerts featuring popular bands and artistes from the region are also scheduled on both days, promising energetic and memorable winter evenings.
The festival will additionally serve as a platform to promote livelihoods and local entrepreneurship. Stalls set up by various government departments and agencies will showcase products made by local farmers, artisans, self-help groups and entrepreneurs.
