Tura: The Meghalaya government is all set to host the “Me’Gong” Festival, a celebration of the vibrant Garo culture.
The festival, slated for November 29 and 30, will be held at Baljek Airport, located in the picturesque village of Jengjal in Meghalaya’s West Garo Hills district.
Organized by the Meghalaya tourism department, the Me’gong festival promises a delightful celebration of fun activities and performances.
The name “Me’Gong” comes from a flower that grows in abundance in the Garo Hills.
The festival offers the Garo people an opportunity to honour their heritage, while also inviting tourists to experience the warm hospitality of the Garo Hills. It serves as a platform to promote tourism within the state of Meghalaya.
The 2-day fiesta will offer an array of music, cultural activities, and adventure experiences.
The festival aims to promote the culture, uniqueness, and lifestyle of the people of the Garo Hills Region.

Visitors can enjoy energetic band performances of local and national musicians and bands, participate in exciting traditional games, witness captivating fashion shows, indulge in thrilling eating competitions, and even test their brewing skills in the brew contests.
