Ampati: The Meghalaya Koch Students’ Union (MKSU) successfully hosted the third edition of the ‘Koch Youth Festival’ on December 14 and 15 at the Belbari school playground.
The two-day festival showcased cultural heritage and youth empowerment, attracting the participation of Koch youth from various parts of Meghalaya.
The inaugural day commenced with a flag-hoisting ceremony conducted by Kandarpa Koch, President of MKSU. This was followed by a social awareness session presided over by him.
Key addresses included speeches by Bhumikananda Koch, Assistant General Secretary of MKSU, Vijay Koch, Games and Sports Secretary, and Nobo Koch, General Secretary.
Priyanka Koch, Assistant General Secretary of the Meghalaya Koch Women Welfare Association, and Bobit Koch, Nokma of Belbari Akhing, also delivered inspiring speeches.
Gracing the event as chief guest, Vikash Kumar, Superintendent of Police, South West Garo Hills, emphasized the role of youth in fostering societal progress and career counselling.
The first day concluded with mesmerizing cultural dance performances.
The second day was dedicated to social and literary discussions, featuring speeches by Vedvyas Koch, Joint Secretary of Koch Krorang Mathop (KKM), and Anando Koch, Adviser of MKSU.
Upendra Hari Koch, Adviser of Koch Krorang Mathop, addressed the gathering as chief guest and underscored the importance of education and literature.
The students and youth session was presided over by Prabhakar Koch, Executive Member of MKSU, with Rananjay Koch delivering the welcome remarks.
Luto D. Koch, Organising Secretary of MKSU, and other zonal members concluded the session with impactful speeches.

The festival served as a platform to unite the Koch community, highlighting its rich cultural legacy and the aspirations of its youth.
