Ampati: Meghalaya’s St. Claret Higher Secondary School, Ampati, emerged as the undisputed champions at the District Level Inter-School Subroto Mukherjee Football Tournament 2025, which concluded on Friday (June 13) at Ampati Students’ Field in South West Garo Hills.

Demonstrating outstanding skill and teamwork, St. Claret School claimed victory in all three categories—Under-17 Boys, Under-17 Girls, and Under-15 Boys.

In the Under-17 Boys final, they edged out Future Foundation with a 2–1 win. The Under-17 Girls team defeated Birin Nuchong Secondary School in a tense penalty shootout, winning 2–1. In a high-scoring match in the Under-15 Boys category, they outclassed Emmanuel English School with an impressive 11–5 scoreline.

St. Claret School athletes swept all the Best Player awards, with Arlundsky D. Sangma (U-17 Boys), Jreamme G. Momin (U-17 Girls), and Alpinson Arengh (U-15 Boys) recognized for their individual brilliance.

The prize distribution ceremony was graced by Dolrich B. G. Momin, MCS, Additional Deputy Commissioner, as chief guest, and Zanera Marak, District Social Welfare Officer, as guest of honour.

Speaking at the event, ADC Dolrich B. G. Momin congratulated all the participating teams, emphasizing the importance of perseverance. “In life, some win and some lose. But with wholehearted effort and hard work, success is always within reach, whether on the field or in academics,” he said. He also urged students and youth to strive toward a drug-free district.

The tournament was organized in a joint initiative by the District Social Welfare Office and the District Sports Office of South West Garo Hills under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, also aligning with the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.

All attendees took a pledge to stand against drug abuse and illicit trafficking.
