Shillong: Adventure enthusiasts in Meghalaya now have a new thrill to experience. The state’s first sky cycling facility opened its doors on Wednesday at the popular Tree House Resort near picturesque Burny Hills.
This innovative attraction, the second of its kind in the Northeast after Arunachal Pradesh, offers a unique aerial adventure and is poised to elevate the region’s adventure tourism scene.
The set up offers a unique and exhilarating experience to cycle on a high tension and strong metal cable suspended high above the ground. This unique adventure offers stunning panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.
From the base station at one point, two metal tracks measuring about 80 metres in length are joined to a tower on the other side which is about 50 feet in height from the ground. Both the rider and the cycle are securely harnessed to the cable which is above the cycling tract.
Nikman Ch Marak, Deputy Chief Executive Member of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council, commended the proprietors of the Tree House Resort for their innovative venture. He expressed optimism that this new attraction would boost tourism in Tura and its surrounding areas, benefiting the local economy.
JTK Marak, the owner of Tree House Resort, highlighted his commitment to providing a diverse range of recreational activities, including plans for zip lining, rock climbing, and indoor sports facilities.
