Shillong: The Meghalaya government has resumed work on key infrastructure improvements for National Highway-6 (NH-6), including the construction of bridges, retaining walls, and other essential features that were previously excluded from the project.
Sutnga-Saipung MLA, Santa Mary Shylla, announced that the state government has allocated an additional Rs. 90 crore to expedite the highway’s upgrades.
A tender for these enhancements will be issued shortly, ensuring a comprehensive overhaul of NH-6.

Shylla confirmed that repair and construction activities along NH-6, stretching up to Malidor, are progressing as planned and are expected to be completed by March 2025.
Work has already advanced to the Sonapur area, with ongoing construction gradually moving towards Malidor.
To speed up the process, authorities had previously implemented a 10-day road closure, which allowed repairs to be carried out more efficiently.
The additional funds, secured through the upcoming tender, will accelerate the pace of work on critical infrastructure, ensuring the long-term safety and functionality of the highway.
