Ampati: The Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department of Meghalaya, in collaboration with Red FM Shillong, hosted a roadshow on Thursday at the bustling Ampati market in Meghalaya‘s South West Garo Hills district.
The awareness campaign focused on the upcoming 21st Livestock Census, major pet and livestock diseases, and the importance of timely vaccinations.
Hosted by popular RJ Zack from Red FM Shillong, the event captured the attention of local residents and traders, offering insights into the Department’s key initiatives.
RJ Zack conducted interviews with experts including Dr. Bannie Balsrang M Sangma, Dr. Dayana D Sangma, and Dr. Makeda B Sangma, who discussed crucial diseases such as Rabies, Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD), Brucellosis, Classical Swine Fever, and Peste des Petits Ruminants (PPR).
The experts emphasized preventive measures and the necessity of regular vaccinations to safeguard both livestock and pets.
Despite the drizzling rain, the roadshow witnessed enthusiastic participation from the public, who eagerly took part in an impromptu quiz organized by the event team.
In addition, Rabies awareness pamphlets were distributed to reach a wider audience and spread key messages.
Adding to the lively atmosphere were spirited dance performances by the Red FM team.
Additionally, officials took the opportunity to share important information regarding the upcoming 21st Livestock Census.
