Ampati (Meghalaya): Police recovered a cache of suspected live ammunition during a joint search operation in Meghalaya’s South West Garo Hills district on Tuesday, officials said.
The operation was carried out by teams from Salmanpara and Ampati police stations at a bamboo grove near Santogre village, which falls under the jurisdiction of Salmanpara Police Station. The search was conducted following specific intelligence inputs.
According to a statement issued by Superintendent of Police Vikash Varma, the police team unearthed 55 suspected live anti-aircraft ammunition that had been buried at the site.

The ammunition was seized on the spot in the presence of independent witnesses, in accordance with prescribed legal procedures.
Police said a detailed investigation has been launched to trace the source of the ammunition and to identify those involved in its concealment.
Police have appealed to residents to share any information related to unlawful activities or persons involved, assuring that the identity of informants will be kept confidential and that appropriate rewards will be provided.
