Shillong: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Monday flagged off dedicated crime scene investigation vehicles for all 12 districts of the state, bolstering the forensic capabilities of the police force.
The specialised vehicles will be deployed by the forensic unit of the Meghalaya Police.
The chief minister also inaugurated the new office of the Anti-Terror Squad in Shillong, marking another step in strengthening the state’s internal security apparatus.
Accompanied by Home Minister Prestone Tynsong, Sangma later chaired the annual review meeting with Superintendents of Police (SsPs) and Commanding Officers (COs) at the Police Headquarters.

On the occasion, two new digital platforms were rolled out — MEGPOL, an advanced research tool, and PIMS, a Personnel Information Management System designed to streamline police administration.
The event also saw the chief minister and the home minister felicitate officers for their outstanding work, including the team that cracked the Sohra honeymoon murder case and other officials who successfully solved cases in record time.
