Shillong: In the wake of the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, which resulted in the deaths of 26 individuals, the Meghalaya government has directed Pakistani nationals residing in the state to leave by the end of April 2025.

This follows the Indian government’s decision to suspend all visa services for Pakistani citizens and revoke most existing visas, with immediate effect, as a national security measure.

An official directive issued by V.S. Rathore, Senior Superintendent of Police and Foreigners Regional Registration Officer (FRRO) of Ri Bhoi District, instructs all Pakistani nationals—excluding those on Long Term, Diplomatic, or Official Visas—to exit Meghalaya and India by April 27, 2025.

Pakistani citizens holding Medical Visas must depart by April 29, while those with SAARC Visas are required to leave no later than April 26.

Non-compliance will invite strict legal action, including criminal prosecution, the order warned.

Authorities have also appealed to the public to report any suspected presence of Pakistani nationals by contacting the police control room at emergency number 112.

A similar advisory was also issued by East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police, Vivek Syiem, instructing all Pakistani nationals in the district to leave Meghalaya and the country by April 26, 2025.
