Tura: The construction of the Additional Secretariat Complex at Dakopgre, Tura, reached a key milestone on Saturday with the pouring of concrete for its first pillar, marking a significant step in the government’s plan to strengthen administrative infrastructure and governance in the Garo Hills region.

Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma inspected the ongoing works at the site and participated in a prayer ceremony held to bless the foundation of the project.

Describing the day as “auspicious and important,” the Chief Minister said the new complex would bring administrative services closer to the people of Garo Hills.

“This Additional Secretariat is a great moment for the people of the state as a whole, and particularly for the people of Garo Hills, as it will serve the region and the state in many positive ways,” he said, while thanking religious leaders Reverend Dilseng and Father Januarius for their blessings.

Sangma also reviewed the progress of construction and expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work being undertaken.

The programme began with an opening prayer by Rev. Dilseng M. Sangma, followed by the ceremonial concrete pouring led by the chief minister and other dignitaries.

The event concluded with a closing prayer offered by Fr. Januarius S. Sangma, Principal of Don Bosco College, Tura.

Deputy Commissioner of West Garo Hills Vibhor Aggarwal, Superintendent of Police Abraham T. Sangma, and senior government officials were also present at the ceremony.
