Shillong: The North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) of Meghalaya will launch a Korean language and culture course in the next academic session in July 2025.
This initiative is a result of a recent Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong, and the Indo-Korean Business Culture Centre (IKBCC), South Korea. The MoU aims to promote language and culture exchange and create career opportunities for aspiring young professionals.
The MoU, signed on October 22 at NEHU’s Golden Jubilee Auditorium, seeks to establish international internship and career opportunities for students in both India and South Korea.
The MoU was signed by Col. Omkar Singh on behalf of NEHU and Dr. Zena Chung, the Founder Director of Indo-Korean Business Culture Center (IKBCC).
NEHU Vice Chancellor Prof Shukla, during the signing ceremony, stated that this partnership would strengthen ties between India and Korea and provide students with exposure to East Asian culture through cultural exchanges and employment opportunities.
In the first phase of the implementation of the MoU, NEHU and IKBCC will work on an ambitious project of preparing a multilingual dictionary comprising Khasi-Hindi-Korean-English languages within a defined time framework.
Besides, Khasi and Hindi language programmes will be introduced in Korean institutions under faculty exchange programme.
