Agatha K. Sangma has been honoured with the Distinguished Public Leadership Award – Governance & Inclusive National Development at the TOI National CSR Summit 2026, hosted at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.
The award was presented by Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan, who attended the event as the Chief Guest.
The recognition was part of the Times Foundation’s Lifetime Achievement Honours, a platform that celebrates individuals whose long-term contributions have played a significant role in strengthening public institutions and advancing national development.
The selection was carried out through an independent and confidential process by a Search Committee comprising senior figures from public administration, industry, philanthropy, academia and civil society, ensuring transparency and credibility in the process.
Sangma is a former National People’s Party MP from Tura and an ex-Union minister.
The citation highlighted Sangma’s leadership rooted in integrity, her efforts in promoting rural development, strengthening governance frameworks, and amplifying inclusive representation for India’s Northeast.
It also noted her distinction as one of the youngest Union Ministers and her sustained engagement in shaping public discourse around inclusive growth and development, the report said.
Throughout her career, her public service record has reflected a consistent focus on responsible governance, institutional reform and equitable progress.
The Distinguished Public Leadership Award is a non-competitive national honour that recognises enduring leadership and sustained contributions to public life.
The ceremony witnessed the presence of policymakers, business leaders and civil society representatives from across the country.
