Ampati: In a major crackdown on drug trafficking in Meghalaya, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force of Meghalaya police conducted a special operation on Saturday in South West Garo Hills.
The coordinated effort to combat the rising issue of drug trafficking was led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (HQ), South West Garo Hills along with officers and personnel from Monabari Outpost and Garobadha Outpost Guard Camp in the Borkona area under Monabari Outpost.
Three persons were apprehended during the operation. The arrested have been identified as Mostafa Sheik (24), Meter Ali (32) and Nur Abdin (24).
The operation resulted in the seizure of substantial quantities of illegal substances and other items including 11,000 methamphetamine tablets (Yaba) weighing 1.06 kilograms, three mobile phones, two motorcycles, and one knife..
A case has been registered under the NDPS Act at Ampati Police Station, and an investigation is underway.
Police have urged public to be vigilant and urged to contact their local police stations to report about such illegal activities in the state.
