Ampati: The Meghalaya Koch Women Association (MKWA) celebrated International Women’s Day with a gathering in Ghasura near Ampati in South West Garo Hills district.
Dr. Anupama Mishra, a senior official of the All India Research Coordinated Project on Women in Agriculture at the College of Community Science, Tura, graced the event as the Chief Guest.
Konika D Koch, adviser of Meghalaya Koch Women Association (MKWA), chaired the program.
The event commenced with a melodic song performed by the attending women, followed by a warm welcome speech from the General Secretary, Kausalya D Hargiya.
Dr. Rangana Koch, Assistant Teacher at Sulguri Deficit Secondary School in South West Garo Hills, delivered an inspiring speech, emphasizing the significance of education and empowerment for women in rural areas.
Several skilled mothers were honored with appreciation certificates during the ceremony.
Dr Anupama Mishra and Mohuwa Koch, Presidents of MKWA, delivered speeches encouraging women’s empowerment and advocating gender equality.
The event concluded with participants feeling inspired to continue their support for women’s causes in Meghalaya.
