Resubelpara: Hundreds of pregnant women in North Garo Hills benefited from a health camp focused on Ante Natal Care (ANC) held at Resubelpara Community Health Center (CHC) on Thursday.
The event featured on-the-spot OPD screening, ultrasound services, and counselling sessions, all provided by expert gynecologists Dr. Vince Chimpoo M Momin and Dr. Abida M Marak.
The importance of early ante natal check-ups during the first trimester was emphasised by the chief guest, Torali K Marak, Assistant Commissioner of North Garo Hills.
Marak urged all expecting mothers to register for ANC care and take advantage of the services offered by the medical department.
She highlighted that antenatal care, which includes regular check-ups and pre-natal testing, is essential for monitoring the health of both the mother and the baby.
Marak also praised the District Medical & Health Officer’s office for organising the program and acknowledged the government’s efforts to achieve zero preventable maternal and newborn deaths.
She also commended the work of ASHAs (Accredited Social Health Activists), the grassroots health workers, and encouraged expecting mothers to cooperate with them to ensure effective access to ANC services.
Dr. N R Marak, SDM&HO cum DNO of the Aspirational Block, spoke about the objective of the program, referencing the previous ANC registration statistics, which showed that only 51% of expectant mothers had previously availed the benefits.
