Shillong: A minute’s silence was observed in Sohliya village in memory of Oriwell Timu, a farmer from Karbi Anglong who lost his life during the recent border clash in Lapangap. Members of the All Meghalaya Karbi Association (AMKA) and the Hill Farmers Union (HFU) Central Body, along with local farmers, gathered to honour him and pledged financial support to his bereaved family.
The meeting, led by AMKA President Robert Ronghang and HFU General Secretary Allfondbirth Kharsyntiew, served as a platform for open dialogue on rebuilding trust and strengthening cooperation among border communities affected by the violence.
During the discussion, both AMKA and HFU denounced the recent incidents that had disturbed peace and halted agricultural activity in the area.
