Shillong: The Meghalaya government has extended the application deadline for the Chief Minister’s Scholarship Scheme (CMSS) 2025 till October 31, following a strong response from students across the state.
The Education Department clarified that beneficiaries of CMSS will remain eligible for the Post-Matric ST Scholarship and other state or central schemes.
Officials said the clarification was issued to reassure students and parents that availing CMSS will not affect their access to other benefits.

Launched just a month ago, the scholarship scheme has already received more than 50,000 applications from students in different districts, reflecting its popularity and significance in supporting higher education aspirations.
The government has urged all eligible students—from Class XI to Ph.D. level, studying in recognised institutions within and outside Meghalaya—to apply through the Meghalaya One portal before the new deadline.
