Shillong: Search and rescue teams in Meghalaya have spotted a decomposed body near the Weisawdong Falls in the Sohra region, believed to be that of Raja Raghuvanshi, a tourist from Indore who went missing along with his wife on May 23.
According to police officials, the body was discovered on Monday with the help of drone surveillance in a steep gorge within the East Khasi Hills district.
A ground team has been dispatched to the area to recover the remains.
“A drone-assisted search operation led to the sighting of a male body near Weisawdong Falls. While we cannot confirm the identity at this stage, we strongly suspect it to be that of Raja Raghuvanshi,” a senior police official said.
Authorities stated that identification will be confirmed once the body is retrieved and presented to the family.
