SHILLONG: In a delightful turn of events, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma and business magnate Anand Mahindra engaged in a musical tête-à-tête on social media, leaving music enthusiasts and netizens utterly captivated, on Friday.
The episode unfolded when Chief Minister Sangma showcased his musical prowess by tearing into the soulful solo of Wasted Years, a classic by the legendary New Wave of British Heavy Metal band, Iron Maiden.
The electrifying performance, which unfolded in a cozy café, swiftly became a social media sensation on December 28, resonating with fans across platforms.
Not one to let an opportunity pass, Mahindra, the Chairman of Mahindra Group, took to the digital stage and extended a spontaneous invitation to Sangma.
Posting on a popular micro-blogging site, Mahindra urged the Chief Minister to grace the 12th edition of the Mahindra Blues Festival, India’s premier blues music extravaganza, set to unfold in Mumbai on February 10 and 11.
“Uber cool… we need you out here at the @mahindrablues in Feb @SangmaConrad!” exclaimed Mahindra, echoing the sentiments of many who had witnessed Sangma’s impromptu guitar mastery.
In a humble yet enthusiastic response, Sangma acknowledged the invitation, expressing his eagerness to join the bluesy rendezvous.
“Would love to @anandmahindra… need more practice though :)” replied the Chief Minister, revealing a charming blend of humility and musical passion.
The video of Sangma’s on-stage prowess, shared on a picture/video-sharing website, featured the Chief Minister in a rocking performance alongside a band on December 28.

However, this isn’t the first time Sangma has showcased his affinity for Iron Maiden compositions.
Last year, he treated his audience to a similar performance, demonstrating his commitment to music amid the rigours of political life.
