SHILLONG: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, on Thursday, said that the government is doing everything it can to secure the future of the state’s youth through education. Admitting that the state’s education sector is riddled with challenges, Sangma assured that his government will strive to address the concerns of all the stakeholders.
Speaking at the inauguration of the official address of the Meghalaya State Education Commission (MSEC) at the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE) premises in Lower Lachumiere, the Chief Minister added that the government wishes to undertake comprehensive restructuring and reformation of the education sector.
“The education sector in Meghalaya has accumulated many challenges over the years and we are positive that the MSEC, comprising of few of the best minds in the state, can together work out a practical solution to overcome these challenges,” he posted in a popular micro-blogging website after the do. Sangma was accompanied by education minister Rakkam A Sangma and Commission members.
The Chief Minister also said that he felt elated to attend the first meeting of the commission members to give insights into the reality of education scenario, lay down the government’s vision and to encourage them to work as a team. “I wish them the very best,” he added.
MSEC’s extensive scope includes enhancing the overall quality of education, addressing teacher-related issues, rationalising schools and teachers, and exploring the effective implementation of technology in education.
The Commission’s work is poised to play a pivotal role in shaping the education landscape and usher in transformative changes, enhancing the quality of education and preparing the youth for a brighter future.
