Shillong: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma has instructed the state health department to probe persistent delays in claim settlements and payment issues under the Meghalaya Health Insurance Scheme (MHIS).
In a recent review meeting held in Shillong, Sangma emphasized the need for immediate corrective steps to enhance the efficiency and transparency of the scheme.
The meeting was attended by Health Minister Dr Ampareen Lyngdoh and top health officials.
Following the meeting, the Chief Minister shared on social media that the discussion focused on addressing the hurdles affecting MHIS.
He urged the department to closely examine the reasons behind claim rejections and delayed disbursals, underlining the government’s commitment to delivering reliable healthcare access to all residents.
The MHIS is a key state-run programme aimed at offering financial assistance for medical expenses and strengthening public health infrastructure.
Ensuring its smooth functioning, Sangma noted, is essential to protect citizens from financial stress during medical emergencies.
