A total of 783 trainees—including 274 Agniveers and 509 Territorial Army recruits—have officially joined the Assam Regiment after completing their training.

“Honoured to attend the Attestation Parade of Agniveer 6th Batch at Assam Regimental Centre, Shillong,” CM Sangma posted on X.

Addressing the recruits, he highlighted the importance of serving in challenging terrains and remote border areas.

Sangma also urged the new soldiers to embody the Regiment’s motto, “Assam Vikram,” and adhere to the Army’s core values of Duty, Sacrifice, Discipline, and Patriotism.

The chief minister said, “783 trainees including 274 Agniveers and 509 Territorial Army recruits have now joined the Assam Regiment, continuing its proud legacy since 1941.”

He also acknowledged the contribution of the training staff in the transformation of civilians into disciplined soldiers.

“Congratulations to the recruits, their families, and the dedicated instructional staff shaping our future soldiers,” he added.

The Assam Regiment, known for its distinguished role in national security and international peacekeeping missions, maintains a strong presence in the Northeast and has historically drawn many of its personnel from the region.
