SHILLONG: In the wake of alleged irregularities surrounding the National Testing Agency’s (NTA) National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) in Jowai, Jaintia Hills, the Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) and Jaintia Students’ Union (JSU) have demanded a reconduction of the examination.

Earlier in the day, the demand for reconducting NEET arose following allegations of “grave discrepancies” during Sunday’s examination, as highlighted in a joint letter penned by both student bodies to Education Minister Rakkam A Sangma.
The letter underscored confusion stemming from the distribution of two sets of question papers labeled as MNOP and QRST.

According to the student bodies, this led to significant distress among over 400 candidates, as they were initially unsure which set to attempt.
It was later clarified that the QRST set contained the genuine questions, leaving students who had started with the MNOP set feeling anxious and disadvantaged.
Despite efforts by some candidates to seek clarification from exam authorities, the student bodies claimed that their attempts were in vain, exacerbating the situation.
Additionally, the letter pointed out delays in the submission of admit cards by many candidates until late in the evening, resulting in inconvenience and a last-minute rush.
