Shillong: The Meghalaya State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (MSCPCR) has called for urgent and decisive action from the police in the case of the four-year-old girl whose body was recovered from an under-construction building in Nongrah, East Khasi Hills.
Commission Chairperson Agatha K. Sangma, in a statement issued on Tuesday, said the “gruesome incident” must be investigated swiftly and thoroughly to ensure justice for the child and her family.
“Swift and thorough investigation is vital, not only for justice to be delivered but also to provide the bereaved family some measure of closure,” she stressed.
Members of the Commission met the victim’s family on Monday, offering support and assistance while overseeing official procedures, including the autopsy at NEIGRIHMS.

Expressing deep anguish over the death, the Commission conveyed its condolences and reaffirmed solidarity with the grieving household.
The MSCPCR also issued a stern reminder to the public against circulating videos or images of the minor on social media, warning that such acts are punishable under the Juvenile Justice Act.
Calling the loss of the child’s life a matter of profound sorrow, the Commission urged investigative agencies to intensify their efforts to identify and bring the perpetrators to justice without delay.
