Shillong: The Meghalaya Cabinet on Thursday approved the Meghalaya AYUSH Medical Service Rules with a view to promoting traditional systems of medicine such as Ayurveda, Yoga, and Naturopathy.
Cabinet Minister and government spokesperson Paul Lyngdoh said the traditional system of medicines like Ayurveda, Homeopathy, Yoga, Naturopathy have all gained attraction and are also being adopted by people as an alternative to current medical practices.
Accordingly, the government has decided to have service rules in place and it will be called Meghalaya Ayush Medical Service Rules, 2025, he added.
The newly approved rules clearly define guidelines for appointments, service conditions, and the regulations of medical professionals working within the AYUSH system.
With this approval, Meghalaya joins several other states that have formalised service rules for AYUSH practitioners.
The initiative aligns with the broader national efforts to mainstream traditional medicines and enhance healthcare accessibility.
