Shillong: The Border Security Force (BSF) has extended its recruitment drive in Meghalaya after witnessing an overwhelming response from job seekers.
More than 10,000 candidates have registered for just 300 constable vacancies, officials confirmed on Saturday.
Organised by the Meghalaya Frontier Headquarters, the recruitment rally is being conducted at centres in Shillong and Tura.
The turnout includes participants from remote villages, reflecting the eagerness of young people across the state to join the paramilitary force.

Significantly, the drive has seen a 70:30 male-to-female participation ratio, a trend that BSF officials said highlights the growing determination of women in Meghalaya to serve in uniform.
“With the extension of the recruitment window till September 18, the BSF reiterates its commitment to empowering local youth and fostering an inclusive, dedicated force,” a spokesperson said.
