SHILLONG: The Shillong Cherry Blossom Festival 2024 is all set to bring an exciting lineup of international and Indian artists, headlined by Senegalese-American pop star Akon, pop group Boney M’s Maizie Williams, and Hong Kong rapper-singer Lucas.
The festival will take place on November 15 and 16 at the RBDSA Sports Complex in Meghalaya’s capital city Shillong.
The festival marks the India debut of Lucas known from SM Entertainment’s SuperM group.
He made his solo debut on April 1 this year, with the single album Renegade via SM Entertainment. He was previously part of K-pop boy group NCT and the group WayV.
The first phase of the lineup includes popular Indian artistes like Jasleen Royal and Kanika Kapoor, along with the Shillong-based Jessie Lyngdoh and a reunion of the rock band The Great Society (featuring Lou Majaw, Rudy Wallang, and more) at the festival.
Other notable acts include the reggae band Dewdrops, the hip-hop artiste Reble, and the pop artist Wanbhaa.
Hailing from Rymbai Village in the Jaintia Hills of Meghalaya, the band Dewdrops came together with one common interest to share- music and to promote the message of love, peace and brotherhood through their music.
The band comprises of Rowynk Dkhar as the lead vocalist, Leonard Dkhar as the guitarist and vocalist, Eglancis Dkhar as the lead guitarist, Daioh Lyngdoh on the electric bass, Manavon Massar on keys and Doni Ksih on drums.
Akon will perform on November 16 as part of his ‘Superfan Tour’, which includes one show per country in Asia in November and December with additional stops in as many as eight countries.
The festival’s organizer Rockski Event & Media Group’s Jason Manners said that the festival has partnered with TRTL Tokyo, making Japan the official country partner for this year’s event.
Attendees can expect a special zone dedicated to showcasing Japanese culture, adding a unique element to the festival.

The Cherry Blossom Festival season pass is currently priced at Rs 3,299, while VIP zone tickets start at Rs 8,999 onwards.
