Shillong: The Assam Rifles is gearing up to host the Northeast’s largest half-marathon in Meghalaya’s Shillong on November 24. This year’s event is expected to draw record participation, with runners from across the Northeast and other states.
The Assam Rifles Half-Marathon (ARHM) Shillong has gained significant popularity over the years. This year’s event is expected to be graced by several dignitaries from the government, armed forces, and various other fields.
Lt Gen Vikas Lakhera, Director General of Assam Rifles, expressed his enthusiasm for the event, stating, “We are thrilled to host ARHM Shillong on November 24 and is expected to surpass all previous records of participation. This event is dedicated to fostering a culture of wellness, fitness, and unity in the Northeast. We invite everyone to participate and make this year’s event a resounding success.”
He further said, “To further enhance the event’s appeal, the Assam Rifles has partnered with renowned boxer MC Mary Kom as the brand ambassador for the half-marathon. MC Mary Kom is an icon, who perfectly embodies the core values of Assam Rifles – valour, glory and sacrifice. We are extremely honored to have her as our Brand Ambassador for ARHM Shillong.”

Speaking about her partnership with ARHM Shillong, MC Mary Kom said, “I am very excited about this partnership with Assam Rifles for the half-marathon in Shillong.
