Shillong: The Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBoSE) has announced the results for the Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) examinations for 2025, covering the Science, Commerce, and Arts streams.
This year’s top achievers across the streams were from prominent educational institutions in the region.
In the Science stream, Saptarshi Bhattacharjee from Laban Bengalee Boys’ Higher Secondary School clinched the top spot with an impressive total of 483 marks.
He earned distinction in all core subjects, including English, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Computer Science.
Disha Chokhani of St. Anthony’s Higher Secondary School emerged as the topper in the Commerce stream, scoring 481 marks, along with distinctions in English, Accountancy, Entrepreneurship, Economics, Mathematics, and Business Studies.
In the Arts stream, the first position was jointly held by Albert Mate and Idawanplishisha Swer, both from St. Edmund’s Higher Secondary School, with each securing 455 marks.
This year, 29,278 students appeared for the examination across all streams, with a breakdown of 22,835 students in Arts, 3,922 in Science, 2,501 in Commerce, and 20 in Vocational courses.
Of those who appeared, 3,253 students passed the Science stream, achieving a pass percentage of 82.94%.
In Commerce, 2,033 out of 2,501 students passed, resulting in a pass percentage of 81.28%.
The Arts stream had the highest number of successful candidates, with 18,736 students passing out of 22,835, which accounts for a pass percentage of 82.05%. The Vocational stream saw 17 students pass, resulting in a pass percentage of 85%.
MBoSE Executive Chairman, CP Marak, praised the smooth conduct of the examinations, acknowledging the support from various departments, including the Education Department, District Administration, Police, and particularly the teachers, whose tireless efforts were instrumental in ensuring the success of the process.
He also highlighted the role of a new digital intervention introduced by the Board, which helped in declaring the results earlier than usual.
When it comes to district performances, Eastern West Khasi Hills topped the Arts stream with an impressive pass rate of 92.70%.
South West Garo Hills also excelled, achieving a flawless 100% pass rate in the Commerce stream, with all 33 students who sat for the exam passing.

Meanwhile, West Khasi Hills stood out as the highest-performing district in the Commerce stream, boasting a pass percentage of 92.3%.
Notably, female candidates once again outperformed their male counterparts across both Regular and Non-Regular categories in the Arts, Science, and Commerce streams.
Marak further commended the efforts of schools in providing education to students from diverse backgrounds, expressing gratitude for their contributions to the success of the examination.
