Shillong: Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday met family members of the victims of Mukroh firing incident and promised not to rest until justice is served.
Five innocent tribal people were killed in Assam Police firing on November 22 at Mukroh village in Meghalaya’s West Jaintia hills district.
Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday met the family members of all the five victims of Mukroh firing incident at Hotel Pinewood in Shillong, and said her party, the Trinamool Congress strongly stand in solidarity with them.
The Trinamool Congress chief also handed over financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh to family members of all the five victims of Mukroh killing.
“Don’t worry; we are with the people of Mukroh. We will fight tooth and nail to ensure that the family members get justice for the barbaric incident,” Mamata Banerjee said.
Former chief minister of Meghalaya Mukul Sangma, former Meghalaya speaker Charles Pyngrope and several other senior members of Trinamool Congress were present while Mamata Banerjee interacted with the victims of Mukroh firing incident.
After meeting the family members of the victims of Mukroh firing, Mamata Banerjee addressed a meeting of the party workers at Soso Tham Auditorium in Shillong.
